Several people have been shot after a gunman opened fire at a busy shopping centre in Copenhagen, just hours before a Harry Styles concert nearby, police have confirmed.
Danish police warned to stay clear from the Field's shopping mall after shots were fired, writes The Mirror. Terrifying images show people of all ages running away from the scene, including parents fleeing with their young children, writes The Mirror.
Detectives have said that one person has been arrested in connection with the alleged shooting.
British pop singer Harry Styles was due to perform later in the evening, at 8pm local time at a concert venue less than a mile from the shopping centre. The concert will go ahead as scheduled after close dialogue with the police.
Half of the audience had already entered the venue, the concert promoter Live Nation said.
The Copenhagen mayor has described the shooting as "very serious" after police said in a tweet: "If you have been to Fields, we encourage you to contact your relatives."
Emilie Jeppesen and Astrid Kofoed Jørgensen, both 20, were in the shopping centre when they say they heard three or four gunshots.
Speaking to Jyllands Posten, Emilie said: "You didn’t know what was happening. Suddenly there was just chaos everywhere. We were sitting and going to eat and suddenly we could see people running.
"Then we first thought 'why do people run?' But then we could hear shots."
Local media published images showing heavily armed police officers at the scene.
Copenhagen Police tweeted: "We are present in large numbers and massively at Fields, where we have received reports of shootings. We will update here as soon as we have more about the current situation."
