‘Community’ Film Is Finally Real As Peacock Orders Closing Feature With Original Stars

A group of ecstatic archaeologists have discovered the official resting place of St Nicholas, the man who was the inspiration behind the worldwide renowned figure of Santa Claus. The Christian bishop's tomb was uncovered amongst the ruins of a prehistoric Christian Orthodox Church in Myra, Turkey that was destroyed in the Middle Ages after it was flooded by rising Mediterranean sea levels.

BreAnna Bell Pete Davidson’s comedy series “Bupkis” at Peacock has added six guest stars to its cast. Charlie Day, “Everybody Loves Raymond” alums Brad Garrett and Ray Romano, Simon Rex, Emmy Award-winner Kenan Thompson, and Chase Sui Wonders have been cast as guest stars in the new series. The casting serves as a reunion for Romano in multiple directions. The actor, who recently made his feature directorial debut with his latest film “Somewhere in Queens They’ll be joining previously announced cast members Davidson as well as Edie Falco, who will play Davidson’s mom and Joe Pesci, who will play Davidson’s grandfather.

John Leguizamo criticized the upcoming "Super Mario" remake for lack of diversity in the movie's casting. In a since-deleted tweet he wrote, "So glad #SuperMarioBros is getting a reboot! Obviously, it's iconic enuff [sic]. " "But too bad they went all white! No Latinx in the leads! Groundbreaking colour-blind casting in original! Plus I'm the only one who knows how to make this movie work script-wise!" he added. Leguizamo also shared photos of himself playing Luigi and Bob Hoskins as Mario in the original film, which was released in 1993.

Writer-director Marie Kreutzer’s “Corsage,” was recognized with the festival’s highest honor — the best film award — continuing the historical drama’s festival praise after lead actress Vicky Krieps was awarded the Un Certain Regard best performance prize at Cannes. Set during Christmas in 1877, “Corsage” follows Empress Elizabeth as she attempts to find liberation from the stifling conformity of her stuffy, image-focused lifestyle as a Vienna royal. Though the film is in part based on the historical figure, who reigned for 44 years, artistic deviations are made in the former ruler’s story.

The Santa Fe International Film Festival is set to screen Night of the Cooters, the short film produced by George R.R. Martin and directed by Vincent D’Onofrio. Martin and D’Onofrio will attend the event for a Q&A scheduled for Wednesday, October 19 at the Jean Cocteau Cinema.

Winners include Golden Puffin recipient “Rodeo,” continuing the film’s early success in the awards circuit at festivals like Cannes and Champs-Élysées. “I spent five years writing what became ‘Rodeo,'” director Lola Quivoron previously told Varietyin regard to her feature debut. “I wanted to create a true fiction tale and weave in elements of genre, gangsterism and a bit of western. The idea was to make a film that had an aesthetic and a cinematic dimension.”

Georgia Libertarian Shane Hazel, running to be the state's next governor, said he wants to be an alternative to the Republican and Democratic options on the ballot in November's election. Variety has exclusively learned the song “Stand Up,” which will be featured in Orion and United Artists Releasing’s upcoming drama “Till,” will be submitted for Academy Awards consideration. The song will be released on Oct. 7. Written by Sullivan and D’Mile, the end-credits song captures the moving spirit of the harrowing true story of Mamie Till Mobley (Danielle Deadwyler) and her relentless pursuit of justice after her 14-year-old son Emmett Till (Jalyn Hill) is lynched in 1955.
