Colorado's Gov. Polis tests positive for COVID-19

A Colorado woman accused of killing her 7-year-old daughter and soliciting donations on her behalf pleaded not guilty to charges Wednesday.  An attorney for Kelly Renee Turner, 43, entered the plea during a virtual Douglas County court hearing, The Denver Post reported. She faces a slew of charges, including first-degree murder, child abuse, second-degree forgery and attempt to influence a public servant, according to jail records.

The Supreme Court gave temporary victories to a Colorado church and New Jersey religious leaders that challenged their respective states coronavirus restrictions on the number of people allowed at prayer services, vacating lower court rulings and calling for the cases to be reconsidered after the court shot down similar prohibitions in New York.

A Colorado mother who said she and her family were kicked off a United Airlines flight after her 2-year-old daughter refused to keep a mask on told “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Sunday that “the experience was absolutely traumatizing” and “very humiliating.” Eliz Orban took cell video on Friday of a crew member speaking with her husband as he was trying to keep the mask on their daughter.The video, which Orban posted on Twitter, shows her husband telling the crew member that he was holding the mask

DNA has helped crack the unsolved cold case murder of a woman found in a stairwell of a Colorado hospital 21 years ago. In November 1999, Jennifer Watkins, 23, was working as a dietary aide at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

NEW YORK -- A leading independent bookstore, the Colorado-based Tattered Cover, has been sold to a group of investors and will become the country's largest Black-led bookseller.An investment group led by Denver natives Kwame Spearman, who will serve as CEO and operations manager, and David Back purchased the Tattered Cover for an undisclosed amount of money. The previous owners, Len Vlahos and Kristen Gilligan, will remain in an unofficial capacity through June.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis' husband, Marlon Reis, has been taken to the hospital for treatment following worsening COVID-19 symptoms, according to a press release from the governor's office Sunday.  "Over the last 24 hours, First Gentleman Marlon Reis started to experience a slightly worsening cough and shortness of breath on day eight after being diagnosed with COVID," the governor's office said in the statement.

A Colorado church is petitioning the Supreme Court for relief from COVID restrictions in the Centennial State, arguing that churches are treated less favorably than other establishments under the rules. The High Plains Harvest Church and its pastor, Mark Hotaling, are seeking an injunction against a 50-person limit on houses of worship under Gov.

An incoming Republican congresswoman from Colorado has a lighthearted proposal on how to get Democrats to accept the concealed carry of firearms. “Democrats should think of concealed carry as masks for our guns,” Rep.-elect Lauren Boebert, 33, tweeted Thursday.

Officials say a 10-year-old was killed in a Colorado sledding accident Friday after sliding underneath a Ford pickup truck.  Colorado State Police say Roberto Jaramillo Herrera was towing four children on the back of a Ford F-250 truck on a "snowpacked, icy roadway" when Ayleen Herrera lost control of her sled.  The accident occurred just before 6 p.m.

Colorado bar owner Morgen Harrington said on Tuesday that she is “incredibly frustrated” with new coronavirus restrictions in the state, which prohibit indoor dining, and joined a pact of nearly 100 bars and restaurants that are continuing to serve customers inside.

USC’s football game against Colorado scheduled for Saturday at the Coliseum has been canceled and will be declared a no-contest. The action was taken by the Pac-12 because USC does not have the minimum number of scholarship players available for the game at a specific position group as a result of a number of positive COVID-19 cases. According to ESPN, the position group was the offensive line.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has entered quarantine after learning Wednesday he was exposed to someone who tested positive for coronavirus.

Despite his own warnings about traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock reportedly boarded a plane to Houston Wednesday, as the Colorado capital sees a record spike in coronavirus cases. Hancock first boarded a flight to Houston before heading to Mississippi to meet his wife and visit their daughter, according to local reporting by NBC 9 News.

Colorado Springs would be an ideal location for future Space Command headquarters, say lawmakers in the Centennial State. Last week the Department of the Air Force announced the six candidate locations being considered for the headquarters of the U.S.

Colorado's Bear Creek Fire, which had forced the evacuations of 235 homes earlier this week, is now 100% contained.  The Colorado Springs Fire Department made the announcement Friday evening after windy and warm weather conditions whipped flames dangerously close to homes on Thursday. “I want to thank those firefighters up on the fire ground,” Colorado Springs Fire Chief Ted Collas said.
