A police officer in Alabama and another in Colorado were both put on leave this week after allegedly posting incendiary comments about supporters of Joe Biden on social media. Scott Walden, a captain in the Flomaton, Ala., police department reportedly said that people who voted for Biden need "a bullet in their skull for treason" in a Facebook thread.

Coronavirus hospitalizations in Colorado are expected to hit a record high this week, state health officials warned. "We're seeing a steep rise in hospitalizations and mounting pressure on the hospital system," said Rachel Herlihy, an epidemiologist with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, during a news conference, according to local outlet Out There Colorado.

A couple in Colorado was slapped with a citation after luring and feeding bears, according to officials who are now using the incident as a reminder of the dangers of feeding wildlife. Officials said the "egregious incident" took place in the community of Castle Rock, in Douglas County, where misdemeanor charges were filed against a couple for knowingly luring bears.  Colorado Parks and Wildlife said Tuesday they had received multiple reports of people feeding bears.

Colorado voters passed Proposition 113 Tuesday night, officially joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. That accord seeks to unite states that are attempting to remove the disconnect between the popular vote results and the count in the Electoral College.

Colorado saw another blue wave Tuesday night, again riding the coattails of 2016’s and 2018’s Democratic trend in the state, by flipping a Senate seat and electing John Hickenlooper to the the upper chamber of Congress.. Voters also threw their support behind some progressive initiatives like creating a program for paid family leave and medical leave, as well as blocking a ban on late term abortions.

Early in-person voting has begun in Colorado with Republicans narrowly beating Democrats at the polls, though Democrats are still leading in the number of mail-in ballots returned. Over 1,200 Republican voters headed to a polling station since Monday, along with nearly 1,000 Democratic voters, reported the U.S.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced a statewide initiative Tuesday to combat misinformation surrounding the 2020 general election. The Misinformation Initiative will launch through ads on social media and digital platforms to instruct voters how to identify false reports and claims in the lead up to Nov.

Firefighters in Colorado were able to gain ground Monday against the state's largest wildfire on record, as the damage from another blaze has totaled among the most costly in state history.  The largest blaze currently burning in Colorado, the Cameron Peak Fire, is now 205,004 acres and 51% contained as of Tuesday morning.  "We were finally able to go on offense," incident commander Dan Dallas said.

A 73-year-old woman in Colorado was cited with two misdemeanors after a buck deer she raised in her home gored her neighbor last week, according to officials. Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a news release that Tynette Housley of Black Forest admitted to wildlife officers she took in a days-old fawn into her home more than a year ago and raised it.  “We can’t say it enough: Wild animals are not pets,” said Frank McGee, CPW’s area wildlife manager for the Pikes Peak region.

A 20-year-old Colorado resident who battled the novel coronavirus later developed a rare but serious condition known as multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), according to local health officials in the state.  The resident, of Boulder County, suffered only mild symptoms of COVID-19 and “appeared to have fully recovered,” said county officials in a news release.

Thousands of residents in Colorado have been forced to flee from a fast-moving wildfire that's already destroyed dozens of homes, according to officials.  The Calwood Fire has now grown to at least 8,788 acres in Boulder County, which is now the largest blaze in the county's history, Mike Wagner, a division chief with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, said Sunday during a briefing. "It just exploded," Wagner said after the blaze erupted on Saturday.

Authorities have ordered evacuations in Colorado and Utah as new wildfires blaze across the states. The Range Fire and Fire Canyon Fire have already burned through thousands of acres in less than a day in Utah, with the cause of both fires still under investigation.

There has been a surge in the number of ballots returned in Colorado during the first week of early voting, with more than 430,000 votes cast, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Colorado’s Secretary of State Jena Griswold took to Twitter to announce that the number of ballots cast has outstripped this period of time during the 2016 presidential election by a factor of 24.

A man described by U.S. prosecutors as a neo-Nazi and white supremacist pleaded guilty on Thursday to a hate crime for plotting to bomb a historic Colorado synagogue last year.

The husband of a missing Colorado mother believes she was abducted but is hopeful she is alive, he said during an interview, during which he also lashed out at his brother-in-law.  Barry Morphew, 52, listed the Salida home he lived in with Suzanne Morphew and their two daughters for sale, he told KCNC-TV in an off-camera interview. He lives at a nearby residence he rents with his children, in part because of what he believes happened to his wife.
