An expert has shared some of the common cleaning mistakes that people make when hosting for Christmas.
Those who will be having people over often do everything they can to make the house appear more presentable. However, there are some spots that many will miss - and there's a chance it won't go unnoticed by guests.
This is according to Olivia Young, a Cleaning Chemist at Astonish, who has shared her top tips to help people get their homes ready for the big day.
Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "To make your Christmas day cleaning more manageable, don’t try to clean everything. Concentrate on rooms that will be used over the Christmas period such as your living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and any guest bedrooms.
"If guests are staying over the Christmas period, it’s important to remember that they’re not there to inspect your house so try not to worry about cleaning it spotless!"
The expert urged hosts to clean the oven, as she notes that it is a spot which can cause an unpleasant odour.
"Clean your oven so you can cook the dinner to perfection," said Olivia. "A dirty oven can actually affect the taste of your food as well as creating a rather nasty smell in the house."
Any oven and grill cleaner should help to remove tough dirt and grime.
Olivia added: "You should also focus on giving the bathroom a good clean before any of your guests arrive, by removing mould and limescale to help leave your bathroom smelling fresh. I would recommend using the Bathroom Cleaner (£1.29) from Astonish to make this a quick job!
"It’s also a good opportunity to buy a nice toilet block that’s long-lasting so you don’t have to keep on top of cleaning it over the Christmas period."
