A churchgoer lay in wait for his victim before stabbing him in the street in a revenge attack after being chased out of a friend's house.
Ian Lawson, 52, ambushed the man in the street after being chased out of a fellow parishioner's house by the victim during an argument.
His victim, who is in his 20s, had to be airlifted to hospital after being knifed in the chest. Luckily doctors found the injury to be superficial and he was discharged the following day after his wound was stitched.
The attack happened at 5pm on October 19 last year after Lawson had visited the home of a friend in Oldham, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Duncan Wilcock said the complainant was already at the house when Lawson arrived asking for tobacco and 'appeared to be intoxicated'.
''Whilst the defendant was inside, he held out a knife to show the complainant but not in a confrontational manner. However at that stage the complainant produced another blade of his own, which was a small Stanley knife, then pursued the defendant out of the address.
''Police then received two phone calls to say there was a male unconscious on the floor outside the post office. When officers arrived Lawson and his victim were present.
''The victim, who is six feet one and of large build, was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary and was treated for a wound which was superficial on the left side of his chest.
''There was also a small graze to his right thumb and a pin prick above his left knee. There were no internal injuries. He had the wound stitches and was discharged. The victim has never co-operated with the prosecution's case.''
