Tony Stewart upset with NASCAR's penalty, 'super glad' he's at NHRA event rather than playoff race

NASCAR legend Tony Stewart was still fuming Wednesday after the stock car racing organization determined the race team he co-owns manipulated the finish of last week’s race. Stewart-Haas racing is still appealing the $200,000 fine and ruling, but Stewart decided not to talk about the decision.  NASCAR said Tuesday a review of data and team communications showed that the race team manipulated the results of the Charlotte race, the final event of the Round of 12 in the playoffs. "I’m not going to talk about it," Stewart said Wednesday in Texas for his 13th Smoke Show racing fantasy camp, which raises money for Speedway Children’s Charities in the state.  Tony Stewart talks to other drivers prior to the SRX qualifying race at Sharon Speedway July 23, 2022, in Hartford, Ohio.  (Jason Miller/SRX/Getty Images) He’s set to go to the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals in Ennis, Texas, instead of this weekend’s NASCAR race in Las Vegas.

Christian Bale Says Marvel’s Green-Screen ‘Thor’ Set Was ‘Monotony’: Can’t ‘Differentiate One Day From the Next’

Ethan Shanfeld Christian Bale joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year by playing comic book villain Gorr the God Butcher opposite Chris Hemsworth in “Thor: Love and Thunder.” In a new interview with GQ, the actor — who is known for his roles in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, “American Hustle” and “American Psycho” — said he was drawn to the project because he liked “Thor: Ragnarok” and thought Gorr was an “intriguing character.” However, Bale added that acting in front of a green screen for the Marvel project was “monotony,” and that he couldn’t “differentiate one day from the next.” “That’s the first time I’ve done that,” he said of green-screen acting. “I mean, the definition of it is monotony. You’ve got good people. You’ve got other actors who are far more experienced at it than me. Can you differentiate one day from the next? No. Absolutely not. You have no idea what to do. I couldn’t even differentiate one stage from the next. They kept saying, ‘You’re on Stage Three.’ Well, it’s like, ‘Which one is that?’ ‘The blue one.’ They’re like, ‘Yeah. But you’re on Stage Seven.’ ‘Which one is that?’ ‘The blue one.’ I was like, ‘Uh, where?'”

Regal Owner Cineworld’s Future Admissions to Remain Below Pre-Pandemic Levels, Interim Results Reveal

Naman Ramachandran Beleaguered cinema chain Cineworld, which recently commenced Chapter 11 proceedings in a Texas bankruptcy court, has revealed interim financial results for the period ended June 30, 2022, and the overall picture is not rosy. While the company’s revenue for the first six months of 2022 rose to $1.51 billion, from $292.8 million during the same period in COVID-hit 2021, operating profit rose to $57.3 million from last year’s loss of $208.9 million and loss before tax shrank to $364.9 million from $576.4 million, cash reduced to $131 million in June from $354 million at the end of 2021. The group owns Regal Cinemas in the U.S. Thanks to cinemas remaining open uninterruptedly, admissions soared to 82.8 million from 14.1 million in 2021. However, “Q3 admissions have been below expectations,” Cineworld said in a statement, adding that “cinema admissions in both FY23 and FY24 are expected to remain below pre-pandemic levels.”
