Chelsea's interim manager Frank Lampard has praised Manchester City and City Football Group for introducing him to a new way of winning.

Ahead of his first game back as manager at the Bridge against Brighton and Hove Albion, Lampard opened up on his spell with the Blues and how that altered his ideas regarding winning matches.

He explained: "Everyone will have different versions [of running a football club]. I went to Man City for the last year of my career.
"It really opened my eyes to a different model from Chelsea, for me that was great. Probably at Chelsea, the managers turned over a lot.
"We fortunately had a squad that was able to win a lot of trophies. When I look back, I feel disappointed we didn’t win more leagues with more consistency.
"I think we should have done. When I went to Man City and joined the City Group and went to New York, it opened my eyes to a different way of doing it, how they were all working towards something that felt like a longer goal.
"As opposed to Chelsea which was like, ‘change it – results; change it – results.' Both have worked in their different ways so I don’t think there’s an exact model.
"I think it would be jumping the gun to claim the owners now are copying any model. Most models are a process.
