Charlotte Church has emotionally opened up on suffering a tragic miscarriage 17 weeks into her pregnancy. Singer Charlotte, 35, got emotional as she discussed losing her daughter, whom she shared with husband Jonathan Powell, in 2017. Charlotte has three children daughter Ruby, 14, and son Dexter, 13, with her ex Gavin Henson as well as daughter Frida, whom she welcomed in August 2020, who she has with husband Jonathan Powell.
Before welcoming daughter Frida together, the family suffered heartache as Charlotte had a miscarriage. Now, Charlotte has opened up about the heartbreaking experience as she told Kate Garraway on Life Stories.
She said: "That was uniquely painful, I love pregnancy , I love birth. "She was about 17 weeks and I went through that birth." Discussing the impact it had on her family, she said: "It was so formative for us as a family. We just held onto each other so tightly.
"There was a beauty because I gave birth.That pain and that suffering... to witness the bookends of life and death in one moment is mind blowing." Charlotte revealed she was pregnant on stage at Birmingham Pride in 2017. But, just three weeks later a statement was shared on her social media pages.
It read: "Charlotte and Jonny are very sad to announce that they lost their baby. Now is a time for grieving and being together as a family. We kindly ask everyone to respect that peace." Elsewhere in the interview, Charlotte discussing her decision to cut ties with her mum Maria.
