Charli XCX has unveiled the music video for her newest single, Baby, taken from her upcoming album Crash (due March 18 via Atlantic).
The high-throttle track is clearly inspired by the New Jack Swing elements of Janet Jackson's landmark album Control and was written by Charli alongside frequent collaborator Justin Raisen (who helmed her first album True Romance, as well as landmark alt-pop record Night Time, My Time by Sky Ferreira).
Charli premiered the song via Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Apple Music show, and has shared the 80s-inspired music video, with high hair and elevated choreography to match.
Watch the video for Baby below.
Charli recently gained her 12th UK Top 40 hit with Beg For You, featuring BRIT award nominee Rina Sawayama. The track contains a sample of September's 00s dance classic Cry For You and was accompanied by a gloriously camp, sell-your-soul music video.
Crash is being promoted as her final release under Charli's original contract with major label Atlantic. The record was teased with the short but sweet Good Ones (which peaked just outside the UK Top 40, at Number 44) and the new wave-influenced New Shapes with alt-pop icons Christine And The Queens and Caroline Polachek.
