Fans of the Great Britsih Bake Off couldn't hide their joy at the much-loved series returned on Tuesday night (September 13). Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas were back at the helm of the baking competition while Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood returned to cast an eye over the amateur bakers' creations.
Before the 12 new faces who will be taking over our Tuesday nights for the foreseeable, there was somewhat of a Bake Off tradition to be upheld as the show's famous quartet appeared in a hilarious sketch.
Matt and Noel were the first to appear, dubbed 'Luke Piewalker' and 'Princess Layer Cake'. They exchanged a few words before they introduced the character of 'Pruebacca'. Prue then appeared in the aforementioned Chewbacca costume but still wearing her signature bright coloured jewellery.

Viewers were soon commenting on social media about the 'bonkers' opening to the 2022 series before they were able to find out more about the bakers who will be making the famous tent their home. And there is another eclectic mix of people dedicating their time to taking part in the show in a bid to become the ultimate Star Barker - from a nuclear scientist to an architectural assistant, and a music teacher to a former charity director.
But like any other year, it was the show's opening credits that caught fans' eyes. Back in 2021, Bake Off viewers were 'fuming' when they spotted the same problem they have noticed from the past '11 years'. And that has now entered a 12th year as the cake featured in the show's titles was STILL missing that raspberry.
However, it wasn't the missing fruit that left them with questions this time
