Channel 4 bosses have been slammed online after giving Katie Price two new reality-documentary shows following her drink-drive conviction.
Last month, the 43-year-old former glamour model narrowly escaped jail after pleading guilty to driving while drunk and disqualified and without insurance – with police even considering an appeal against the light sentencing.
The star wrote off her BMW last September when she flipped the car while under the influence at the wheel – prompting a high profile court case that resulted in her being handed a suspended sentence for her crimes.
And now, Katie will return to our screens in a new series called Katie Price’s Mucky Mansion – with a subsequent documentary about her mental health battles to follow soon after.
But according to The Mirror, viewers have been enraged by Katie being handed what they consider a ‘reward’ for her criminal behaviour – and have taken to social media to blast the star and Channel 4.
After Katie took to Instagram to highlight her upcoming new Mucky Mansion show, one follower commented: "can't believe it's being aired after her catalogue of misdemeanours!"
While another took aim at the network, writing: “CH4 should be ashamed.”
Others, however, have defended Katie – with one writing under one of Katie’s Instagram posts about her Mucky Mansion show: “Cant wait for this. Never under estimate this girl, she's a fighter. Just love her, she keeps going for sure.”
Katie’s new shows were announced by Channel 4 on January 11th – less than a month after she was told by a judge she was "lucky" not to be jailed for her drink-driving crimes and as she was handed a 16-week suspended sentence, with a condition of unpaid work, and a two-year driving ban.
