Celebrity Gogglebox is getting a new face as Shirlie Kemp joins her husband Martin and son Roman on the sofa. Producers earlier announced she would be joining the hit Channel 4 programme to give her opinions on the week's best TV for the first time tonight (Friday, June 17). But while she has been married to her famous husband - who rose to fame in new wave band Spandau Ballet before becoming an actor in numerous films and EastEnders - for 34 years, Shirlie has an impressive musical career behind her too.
Here we look at her life, from her famous ex to her husband's terrible illness. The 60-year-old first rose to fame as a backing singer for Wham! In fact she dated founding member Andrew Ridgeley when she was just 18. She later went on to form a duo with fellow Wham! backing singer 'Pepsi' DeMacque - named Pepsi & Shirlie. They had two UK top 10 hits with Heartache and Goodbye Stranger. The duo went on hiatus in 1989, but briefly returned in 2000 to record backing vocals on Geri Haliwell's UK number one single Bag It Up.
She also appeared with her daughter Harvey on the Spice Girls' Mama music video. Shirlie has even recorded a covers album with her husband Martin - titled Swing Of It. The pair married in 1988 and have two children together - Harley Moon Kemp and Roman Kemp.
Shirlie was forced to take time out from her work to care for her husband after he was diagnosed with brain tumours in 1995. The larger one was just below his skull, but the other was embedded deep in his brain. The prognosis was not good.
