Across the country, thousands of students will be nervously opening their A-level results today to find out what grades they have achieved after two years of studying. And while the experience may play a role in what path students go on next, whether that’s further study or work, it’s important to note that A-level results aren’t the be all and end all. In fact, many people in the public eye, including the royals and Love Island contestants, have sat their A-levels and achieved a mixture of results, proving that how things go doesn’t necessarily determine the future.
So, let’s take a peek at what some of those in the public eye achieved in their A-levels… Emma Watson On screen, Emma Watson may be known for playing the intelligent Hogwarts student Hermione Granger in Harry Potter but it turns out that in real life, the actress isn’t all that different. Unlike Hermione however, 32 year old Emma didn’t spend her time studying spells and potions but did instead read up on English Literature, Geography and Art. After receiving straight As in her subject, the Hollywood star studied English Literature at the prestigious Brown University in America.
Jake Humphrey Former CBBC presenter and football host Jake Humphrey didn’t quite succeed in his A-levels and failed all of his subjects. After sitting his exams back in 1999, the TV personality opened his results to find that he’d been given an E, U and an N (the grade below an E). Following his results, Jake worked at McDonald’s though he was sacked six months later for his “poor communication skills”.
