CBS Pairing ‘Big Brother’ With ‘The Challenge: USA’ This Summer

The preseason continues! As Big Brother 24 approaches, CBS is revealing more and more details about the highly-anticipated summer programming.

EXCLUSIVE: CBS has put in development JumpStart, a multi-camera comedy based on Robb Armstrong’s long-running comic strip. Wayne Conley (The Best Man) will pen the TV adaptation, which hails from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and CBS Studios.

The bestselling YA author of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” had a hands-on role in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” her 2009 coming-of-age novel about a teenage girl, serving as creator and co-showrunner on the series.

“The Challenge: USA” announced today the 28 CBS reality stars audiences have come to know, love and sometimes hate from “Survivor,” “Big Brother,” “The Amazing Race” and “Love Island” that will compete in the most unpredictable and demanding game they’ve faced yet. The all-star group headed for this new “Challenge” installment include “Survivor” winners Tyson Apostol, Ben Driebergen and Sarah Lacina, “Big Brother” winner Xavier Prather, “The Amazing Race” winner James Wallington, and “Love Island” winner Justine Ndiba.

Let the games begin! The Challenge: USA premieres next month — and this time the competitors are winners from other series.

EXCLUSIVE: Magnum P.I. is looking to join an elite group of popular broadcast series who have overcome shocking cancellations to continue their runs. Noone is commenting but I hear talks are underway for NBC and/or USA Network to potentially carry the series, starring Jay Hernandez. An arrangement is still being figured out but I hear one scenario is for new episodes to air on NBC while USA would run previous seasons of the action drama, a reboot of the 1980s series, which starred Tom Selleck.

The competition is about to start heating up at CBS, as the network has set premiere dates for “Big Brother” and “The Challenge: USA.”Both series will debut back-to-back with 90-minute episodes on July 6. “Big Brother” will open the night, and “The Challenge: USA” will follow.

It’s that time again! Big Brother season 24 will kick off with a 90-minute premiere on Wednesday, July 6, CBS has announced.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterCBS has pulled the Season 4 finale of “FBI” in light of the shooting at a Texas elementary school that saw over a dozen children murdered on Tuesday.The episode has been pulled due to the fact that the storyline concerned a school shooting. The official synopsis reads: “As the team investigates a deadly robbery that garnered a cache of automatic weapons for the killers, they discover one of the perps is a classmate of Jubal’s son, who is reluctant to cooperate with the case.”A repeat of “FBI” will air in the finale’s place. A new airdate for the finale has yet to be determined.Tuesday’s shooting took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX.

CBS’ Monday slate had a fairly good night with nearly all series ticking up in both demo rating and viewership for their season finales.

When May rolled around this year and none of the the Universal Television-produced CBS drama series, the highly rated FBI dramas and The Equalizer, as well as solid Friday performer Magnum P.I., had been renewed, it was clear that the two sides were going through grueling negotiations.
