On January 24, 2008, a gunman shooting from a car opened fire on a group of three men outside William Hill's bookmakers on Mauldeth Road West, Withington. No one was injured despite three shots being fired.
The gunmen arrived in a dark coloured VW Golf which has never been traced.
One of the three in the group who were shot at, and a potential target, was a young man from the nearby Fallowfield estate called Hiruy Zerihun.
Five days later, on the evening of January 29, the same bookies was again targeted by a gun gang.
