The live action remake of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Cats led the nominees at the 2019 Golden Raspberry Awards.
The box office flop, starring James Corden, Judi Dench, Rebel Wilson, Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift and Jason Derulo, tied with Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral and Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo: Last Blood, both of which are in the running for Worst Picture.
They go up against psychological thriller The Fanatic and horror flick The Haunting of Sharon Tate for the dishonour.

Like Thor’s computer-generated hammer raining down on his enemies, Hollywood’s Visual Effects Society is speaking out against last night’s Academy Awards telecast for making them the butt of a joke.

Just like the Oscars puts the spotlight on the best of films, the Razzies every year highlights films that made us cringe and scratch our heads asking why. Sweeping the Razzies this year are three films namely Cats, A Madea Family Funeral, and Rambo: Last Blood. All the three films bagged eight nominations in various categories, they all ended up in the Worst Picture category. The nominations were announced just a day before the Oscars by The Golden Raspberry Foundation.
They say that cats have nine lives, but Cats (the Tom Hooper film) is having less luck after receiving nine nominations at this year’s Golden Raspberry Awards for the worst films of 2020.The blockbuster musical has an all-star cast including Jennifer Hudson, Dame Judi Dench and Taylor Swift and is nominated in nine categories after receiving poor reviews earlier this year. Other films that are up for the Worst Picture award include The Haunting of Sharon Tate and Rambo: Last blood.
