Carol Burnett trended and fans thought she was dead — but ‘SNL’ was to blame

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has shared a behind-the-scenes snap from an upcoming The Walking Dead spin-off also starring Lauren Cohan. The pair are reprising their roles as Maggie and Negan from the main post-apocalyptic zombie drama in The Walking Dead: Dead City. In the black and white picture, posted on Jeffrey’s Instagram, the two stars cosy up to one another in their characters’ costumes.

The Walking Dead spin-off Dead City was revealed.The actor, who plays Negan in the AMC series, is set to reprise his role in the spin-off alongside Lauren Cohan’s Maggie. The show was announced in March 2022, originally titled Isle Of The Dead, before the main show’s final set of episodes in October this year.The early announcement met some confusion as it revealed Negan and Maggie would both survive beyond the main show.

"Saturday Night Live" announced the cast of season 48, introducing four new cast members. The late-night sketch comedy show took a hit at the end of last season amid dwindling ratings, when cast members Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor and Aristotle Athari announced their decision to leave, as well as Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon and Kyle Mooney, who have been on the show for quite a while.

EJ Panaligan editor Iliza Shlesinger’s latest comedy special with Netflix titled “Hot Forever” — her sixth for the streamer — has set a release date for October 11. The special was filmed at the Connor Palace in Cleveland this past July. The special was directed by Steven Paley, with Shlesinger serving as executive producer alongside Kara Baker and David Martin. Her previous specials with Netflix include 2019’s “Unveiled,” 2018’s “Elder Millennial,” 2016’s “Confirmed Kills,” 2015’s “Freezing Hot” and 2013’s “War Paint.” Also in today’s television news: Bravo’s “Winter House” is set to premiere its second season on the network on Thursday, October 13 at 9 p.m. PT/ET.

As you surely know, iconic Hollywood actress and singer Olivia Newton-John tragically passed away last month at age 73 after a decades-long battle with cancer. Now, fans are rallying behind her after noticing she was strangely kept out of the “In Memoriam” segment of the Monday broadcast of the 2022 Emmys.

Following the tribute -- which honored other actors who died this year, including Betty White, Bob Saget, Paul Sorvino, James Caan, Ray Liotta, Robert Morse, Louie Anderson, Sidney Poitier, and many more -- Twitter was flooded with disappointed viewers who called out the awards show for not honoring the late star who died in August at age 73.While Newton-John is listed on the «In Memoriam» page on the Emmys website, she was no where to be seen during the telecasted tribute which was played for the audience on a screenbehind John Legend, who performed his song, «Pieces.» The actress had a famed film and music career, but she also graced the small screen, with credits in dozens of TV shows, including S, ,  and and more.«She’s been on over fifty TV shows and specials.

Olivia Newton-John fans weren’t impressed on Monday after the 2022 Emmys left the actress out of its In Memoriam segment.

The Emmys' In Memoriam segment honours actors, directors, producers and other individuals in the entertainment industry who have passed away since last year’s ceremony – but one star was missing from last night's tribute. This year's segment honoured a number of stars including Betty White, Sidney Poitier, and Nichelle Nichols. But fans watching awards ceremony noticed that one star, the late Olivia Newton-John, who died on 8 August 2022 after a long battle with breast cancer, had been left out of the tributes.

Melissa McBride has teased future storylines for her character Carol Peletier. The 57-year-old’s comments come weeks ahead of the zombie drama’s finale episode, after more than a decade on our screens. While the original series will draw to a close, it has spawned several upcoming spin-offs which will delve further into key characters’ lives such as Dead City, focused on Maggie and Negan.

Carson Burton Tucker Wiard, who served as editor for TV series including “Murphy Brown,” “The Carol Burnett Show” and “The Scarlet Letter,” died on Aug 28 in Los Angeles after complications from heart failure. He was 80. Throughout Wiard’s decades-long career, he won five primetime Emmys for editing. Wiard won for his work in editing the final episode of “The Carol Burnett Show” at CBS in 1978, the four-episode WGBH series “The Scarlet Letter” in 1979 and the television special “American Bandstand’s 30th Anniversary Special” in 1982. Two episodes of “Murphy Brown” — “Respect” and “On Another Plane” — also won Wiard primetime Emmys. He was nominated a total of 11 times.

Tucker Wiard, who won five Emmys as a TV editor behind landmark comedy series including The Carol Burnett Show and the entire run of Murphy Brown, died August 28 in Los Angeles from complications due to heart failure, his family said. He was 80.
