The draw remains regionalised and is unseeded meaning Bolton could face top flight opposition while they could also be handed a Lancashire derby. Entering alongside Burnley and Watford will be the 13 Premier League sides not in Europe. That means the likes of Newcastle, Leeds, Aston Villa, Wolves and Everton are potential opposition in the north section.
The draw is after the televised game between Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday which kicks off at 7.45pm. That means the Whites should learn their fate around 9.40pm. Mark Chapman will be hosting the draw and will be joined by Clinton Morrison and Michael Gray.
The second round ties take place the week beginning August 22 and the leading top flight clubs enter the fray in round three, when the competition is no longer regionalised. Liverpool lifted last season's trophy after a penalty shoot out win over Chelsea at Wembley.
