A car has been discovered burnt out in a car park on the coast in Fife.
Police have launched a probe after the Volkswagen Tiguan was found off West High Street in Buckhaven. Pictures taken on Wednesday morning showed the burnt out shell of the motor sitting near the sea in the town.
It's understood fire crews raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 1.35am on Tuesday. By the time firefighters arrived on the scene the blaze was already well-developed.
In the images taken from the scene, the car could be seen to have been completely destroyed by the blaze. The bonnet is seen to be lifted with the tyres completely burnt out.
The cause of the fire is so far unclear. Police tape was wrapped around the vehicle and officers have since launched an investigation.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 1.35am on Tuesday, January 10, to a report of a car on fire at the waterside near West High Street, Buckhaven. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.35am on Tuesday, January 10 to reports of a vehicle fire in Buckhaven, Fife. Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the town's West High Street, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire involving a car.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene. There were no casualties."
