Queen Consort Camilla is expected to get first choice of items from Elizabeth II's clothes and jewellery collection – but Kate Middleton is tipped to receive "the lion's share". Royal experts say it would have been long decided who gets what, but as future queen consort, the Princess of Wales, 40, will get the most.
As most of her Her Majesty's jewels belong to the Crown, they will be passed on to the next sovereign. Items from her personal collection are expected to have been given to family members chosen by the Queen herself, while some clothing may have been passed on to her grandchildren and could be altered for future use by them.
Majesty Magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward said the late monarch would have "sorted and organised" who receives the items a long time ago, reports MailOnline. She said: "I imagine Her late Majesty's personal jewellery will be given to various members of her family. The Princess of Wales as the future Queen receiving the lion's share.
"There are pieces which will remain for use of the reigning monarch's wife - in this case Camilla. She will need a large collection to support her constitutional role." Royal expert Christine Ross told the publication that some items, including the Queen's wedding dress and coronation gown will be "preserved for historical purposes" and "placed on display." One piece of jewellery that may be retained by Camilla is the Queen Mother's Diamond Thistle Brooch. The Queen Consort wore the rarely seen piece at Elizabeth II's coffin procession and vigil in Edinburgh in a subtle tribute to the late monarch's mother.

A not-so-united front. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not join the royal family to meet with world leaders ahead of Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral on Sunday, September 18, after seemingly being uninvited.
The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend. According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not. Yahoo New UK reported, however, that despite the reception originally only being for working members of the royal family, an exception was made and the Sussexes are expected to attend. Following the death of The Queen last week, King Charles has had a lot of changes to deal with as he became the new monarch following his mother’s sad passing. Alongside his grief, the new King, supported by his devoted wife, Camilla, Queen Consort must now navigate his mother’s funeral, his impending coronation and readjust to his life as the head of state, after spending so much of his life waiting to follow in his mother’s formidable footsteps.
The question of whether the Royal Households will ever refer to Camilla as “The Queen” rather than “Queen Consort” is one for the future, the King’s spokesman has said. As the wife of the King, Camilla is technically Her Majesty The Queen, but in their briefings and statements Buckingham Palace has kept to Queen Consort.
After the Queen's death, her son became King Charles III and his wife Camilla took on the title of Queen Consort - not Queen. Whilst they sound similar, the titles indicate a key difference.
