Camilla, Queen Consort, has paid tribute to Paul O'Grady after he passed away "unexpectedly but peacefully" aged 67 on Tuesday. Paul had met the Queen Consort a number of times through his work with animals, as he raised money and awareness of animals in need.
A statement on the Royal Family Twitter page read: "Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul O’Grady, who worked closely with Her Majesty in support of @Battersea_, providing lots of laughter and many waggy-tailed memories." They also posted a heartwarming snap of the Queen Consort and Paul standing in some woodland with a small white dog at their feet. The Queen consort shared a special bond with Paul O’Grady and worked closely with him in their support of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
Camilla will be sharing her sympathies with Paul’s family privately in due course, the Palace said. As part of their tributes, ITV will be reshowing the episode of O’Grady’s hit show For the Love of Dogs, featuring the Queen Consort at 5pm.
Paul's death was announced by his heartbroken husband Andre Portasio, who said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.” “We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. “He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years." Just two weeks before his death, Paul took to Instagram to lament the loss of one of his pet pigs, who was put to sleep after vets discovered a tumour. READ MORE: Click here for
