Bruno Fernandes is delighted Manchester United have finally been able to score from a set-piece in the Premier League this season.
United were the only top-flight side yet to score from one heading into the weekend, but finally broke their unwanted record when captain Harry Maguire headed in the opener against Leeds.
The 28-year-old rose well from a Luke Shaw corner to put United 1-0 up at Elland Road, a goal which meant a lot to United given their set-piece problems this season.
Fernandes was delighted to finally put the record to bed and is confident it can now be a springboard for even more set-piece goals this season.
"It was good to see," he told MUTV. "We are improving on that. It is tough to score goals, and we have scored against Burnley too. Unlucky for us, the referee saw a foul there. It is about improving and keeping doing the right things.
"The main point is scoring goals, from set-pieces, anywhere. We have to score. The result was on our side, goals, and a great performance, I think."
United led by two goals at half-time of the match but were in danger of dropping more points when they conceded twice within a minute after the break.
They would eventually secure all three points thanks to goals from substitutes Fred and Anthony Elanga, but the Portuguese midfielder did not feel the Leeds equaliser should have stood.
Raphinha levelled from a delightful Daniel James cross into the box, but Fernandes believes he was fouled in the build-up to it.
He continued: "I think it was a foul because when I passed the ball with my right foot, he stamped on my left. Obviously, I didn't see if he touched the ball. It is English football, so I have to get used to it. So it is okay."
