'Britain's most tattooed man' claims he was rejected from a nightclub over his extreme look. Matthew Whelen, 42, alleges he was turned away from a venue over his appearance, which has taken 1,500 hours to create.
The 42-year-old says he has spent thousands of pounds getting his whole body covered in tattoos, reports the Daily Star. He is not done either and is still set for blackout work to be done on his left arm next month.
Despite enjoying his own unique look, Matthew says he is is judged everywhere he goes for his extreme appearance. In an interview on LBC, King Body Art compared his situation to that of extremely tattooed mum, Melissa Sloan.
She recently made headlines after being banned from her child's nativity show because of her appearance. He said: "I had similar issues to what Melissa had, not in the school plays, but where I have gone to venues.
"I'm going back two and a half years when I went to Sydney, Australia. They've got a policy to ban gangs and people with face tattoos, from a lot of bars, clubs and restaurants.
"I was actually staying in a very nice area of Sydney, in CBD, which is the central business district. So, there's a lot nice – not far from the Opera House – it's an amazing part of the world.
"I tried to get into a nice restaurant and bar and then the nightclub on the night and security guards had seen me on a documentary on TV. But they were doing their job, they couldn't allow me into the venue because of their policy."
However, the 42-year-old says he managed to be allowed entry into the club the next day. He claims he simply sent an email to the concierge to explain who he was and that his ink isn't gang-related.
