Brit Awards host Mo Gilligan apologises for swearing live on air

Liam Gallagher has responded to BRIT Awards host Mo Gilligan’s recent impression of him.Gilligan, who made his debut hosting the annual awards ceremony at The O2 in London on February 8, dressed up as Gallagher – wearing a parka, bucket hat and sunglasses – during one skit on the night.Approaching a microphone stand in Gallagher’s swaggering on-stage style, Gilligan referenced ‘Wonderwall’, Gallagher’s love for Manchester City and his 2017 solo album ‘As You Were’ while promoting the former Oasis frontman’s live BRITS performance. BRIT Awards 2022 attracted its lowest audience ever in overnight figures when it was broadcast on Tuesday (February 8).According to figures published by Broadcast, ITV pulled in 2.7 million viewers during the show, which spanned two-and-a-half-hours from 8pm.While this is the lowest in the show’s history, a drop from 2.9 million viewers for 2021’s event, this figure doesn’t count viewers around the world who streamed it digitally on YouTube or catch-up service ITV Hub.The show also went up against BBC drama This Is Going To Hurt starring Ben Whishaw,  which attracted a bigger audience of 3.2 million viewers in overnight ratings.This year’s BRIT Awards featured performances from Adele, Ed Sheeran, Little Simz, Dave, Liam Gallagher and Sam Fender – along with a surprise appearance from Bring Me The Horizon.Adele was the big winner on the night, taking three awards including the coveted Album Of The Year for her fourth LP ‘30’.

Mo Gilligan left The Brit Award viewers in stitches as he made a minor slip up at the start of the show. The comedian presented the show for the first time on Tuesday, after he took over as host from Jack Whitehall who held the spot for several years. ITV viewers were left in hysterics by the 33 year old presenter throughout the night, including from his brilliantly funny impression of Liam Gallagher, but it was his opening statement that left fans giggling.

Ed Sheeran and Bring Me The Horizon opened the BRIT Awards 2022 tonight (February 8) with an unlikely new version of the former’s ‘Bad Habits’.The track was the first single to be taken from Sheeran’s 2021 album ‘=’ and topped the Official UK Singles Chart for 11 consecutive weeks.Taking to the stage to kick off this year’s BRITs, Sheeran and Bring Me The Horizon delivered an amped-up version of the hit, complete with an array of dancers, some of whom hung from wires and spun around above the stage. BMTH frontman Oli Sykes put his own spin on the song with his adopted verses delivered in his trademark growl.Sheeran will perform again later in the ceremony.
