Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan speaks out on filming X-rated scenes for racy show

With filming due to start on season three of Netflix’s period drama Bridgerton in just a few weeks time, all eyes will be firmly fixed on Penelope and Colin next season as they take centre stage for the next exciting instalment of the series. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, recently opened up about what fans could expect in the next series, which included confirming that Penelope and Colin’s romance will be leading to some very risqué scenes, which she is more than prepared for. So far, series two saw Penelope struggle with her love for Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton), while she continued to hide her identity as Lady Whistledown from best friend Eloise.
However the show’s upcoming storyline will see things come to a head, with Penelope even finding herself involved in a few of the show’s famous steamy love scenes. When asked whether she was prepared for the X-rated scenes, Derry Girls actress Nicola joked: “I’m gonna have to be.
I’ve known for two weeks into filming season two, so I had a lot of time to adjust to it.” Speaking to People, the star added: “But then, last night when they were like, “the news is coming out. You can talk about it,” I was like, “I don’t want to. I’m too scared.”” Nicola also went on to add that although she had been preparing for the upcoming scenes, it may be a little while yet before Penelope herself is ready for them.
