Brendan Fraser suits up for the red carpet premiere of his new movie, The Whale, during the 2022 Venice Film Festival on Sunday (September 4) in Venice, Italy.
The 53-year-old actor walked the carpet while holding hands with girlfriend Jeanne Moore at the event.
Brendan also joined his co-stars Sadie Sink and Hong Chau, as well as director Darren Aronofsky and writer Samuel D. Hunter there, and at the photo call earlier in the day.
In a previous interview with THR, Brendan opened up about wearing a prosthetic suit to portray an obese character.
“I think it’s poetic that the trauma he carries is manifest in the physical weight of his body,” he shared. “I needed to learn to absolutely move in a new way. I developed muscles I did not know that I had. I even felt a sense of vertigo, when at the end of the day all the appliances were removed, just as you would feel stepping off the boat onto the dock here in Venice — that undulating feeling.”
Brendan added, “And I say this because he gave me an appreciation for those whose bodies are similar because I learned that you need to be an incredibly strong person physically and mentally to inhabit that physical being.”
FYI: Sadie wore Alexander McQueen at the photocall and premiere.

Titled “Sergio Leone: The Man Who Invented America,” the high-profile doc is premiering in the Venice Classics section for docs on cinema. It features an impressive list of voices holding forth on what makes Leone special for them. Among these are: Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Giuseppe Tornatore, Frank Miller, Darren Aronofsky, Damien Chazelle and Robert De Niro (see clip).
