It wasn’t until Mario Van Peebles’ 1993 film Posse was released and the first of its kind to truly go mainstream that Black Western fans got the idea that they could exist in the Wild West as heroes. Director Jeymes Samuel and producer Jay-Z are building upon this legacy with their film The Harder They Fall, which debuts on Netflix on October 22.
