Boozy ‘Another Round’ to Launch Uncensored Across Middle East, Including Saudi Arabia

While “Another Round” doesn’t have the same Oscar chances that “Parasite” did last year, Thomas Vinterberg’s dramedy about excessive drinking is easily one of the best films of the past year and should be must-see programming for anyone who hasn’t already enjoyed the Mads Mikkelsen-starring feature.

Nominated in both the International Feature Oscar and the Best Director Oscar categories, Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round is a life-affirming film that uses an experimentation with alcohol as a means to propel the drama. Throughout, there are elements of tragedy and comedy in a story Vinterberg has called an “untamable beast.” It’s all capped off by a show-stopping sequence that’s hopeful, joyous and also somewhat open-ended.

MBC, the Saudi-owned Middle East TV giant, is to co-produce and co-finance the upcoming Gerard Butler action thriller Kandahar, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. While no figures were provided, Peter Smith, managing director of MBC's production arm MBC Studios, told THR that the company was making a "substantial investment" in the film.
