Big Bang’s T.O.P spotted reportedly filming a music video in New York

Big Bang member T.O.P was spotted reportedly filming a music video in Manhattan, New York recently, sparking speculations of a solo comeback.Earlier this week, South Korean news outlet The Fact shared several photos of the South Korean musician in various locations around Manhattan accompanied by a filming crew, reporting that the photos of T.O.P were taken sometime in mid-May.The outlet also claimed that the filming had taken place with strict security measures in place, but quoted local staff as saying that the filming was for an “experimental piece of work that harmonises film, music and art”.In the same report, The Fact quoted a separate unnamed inside source, who claimed that the filming was done for a “large-scale comeback project”, as translated by South Korean news publication SBS News. “It’s hard to disclose specific details, but we are preparing this content as part of a large-scale comeback project that T.O.P has been preparing with his global partners,” the insider said. “The content will depict T.O.P with his many identities ― including a singer, an actor and as a human being.”While neither T.O.P nor his representatives have yet to respond to the reports, the purported “comeback project” may mark the rapper’s first since he left longtime label YG Entertainment in February.

New York set to ban hidden fees on gig tickets with new bill

Stereogum report, the bill will mean that public-facing ticket prices will need to be “all-in” instead of having extra fees tagged on at the last minute, with the price needing to be displayed in a “clear and conspicuous manner.”Senate Investigations and Government Operations Committee chair James Skoufis told Billboard of the deal: “I agree with the statement that people should pay, and will pay, whatever they want to pay for a ticket. But they should know what that is.

Bobby Shmurda calls for nationwide adoption of New York’s Rap On Trial bill

New York’s state senate passed a bill on Tuesday that would restrict the use of song lyrics in court, a common practice disproportionately applied to prosecute rappers. Senate Bill S7527, co-sponsored by state senators Brad Hoylman and Jamaal Bailey and dubbed the Rap Music on Trial bill, would require prosecutors to prove a lyric is “literal, rather than figurative or fictional,” before presenting it to a jury.

New York Senate passes new laws to restrict the use of rap lyrics in criminal proceedings

New laws that would restrict when prosecutors can cite rap lyrics in criminal proceedings were passed by the Senate of New York State yesterday, just a week after supposedly incriminating lyrics were included in legal papers alongside the prosecution of Young Thug and Gunna. There is now one more stage in the process before these new rules become law in New York State. The proposed new rules are contained in Senate Bill S7527, sometimes dubbed the ‘rap on trial’ bill.

New York Senate passes bill limiting use of song lyrics as evidence in court

First touted last November, the purpose of this bill is to set a new high bar compelling prosecutors to show “clear and convincing evidence” that a defendant’s rap song, video, or other “creative expression” is “literal, rather than figurative or fictional”.Led by Brad Hoylman (D-Manhattan) and Jamaal Bailey (D-The Bronx), the bill – called ‘Rap Music On Trial’ and dubbed Senate Bill S7527 – has received support since the idea was raised from Jay-Z, Run The Jewels‘ Killer Mike, Meek Mill and more. The bill will now aim to pass through the New York State Assembly in order to become a law.The passing of the bill comes as YSL rappers Young Thug and Gunna have been charged in Georgia, with a large amount of prosecutors’ case against them being taken from their song lyrics. Both rappers were named in a 28-person grand jury indictment and charged with conspiracy to violate the state of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.The indictment centres around the YSL record label and collective, allegedly formed by Thug – real name Jeffery Lamar Williams – in 2012, which authorities claim is a “criminal street gang”.
