A blood-soaked car was spotted on a residential street in Glasgow after a 31-year-old man had been rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Local reports have suggested the man was the victim of a shooting incident, after neighbours heard "loud bangs" through the night.
Residents were only being allowed to leave their homes just after 3pm on Saturday.
The man was discovered with serious injuries at the scene in Barony Drive, in Glasgow's Baillieston area, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A white Nissan was seen with blood trails on the front bumper as it sat parked in a driveway outside a home.
A cordon was placed around all entrances to the residential street as police officers carried out their investigation.
Officers clad in hi-vis jackets and face masks were seen standing guard at the cordon protecting the crime scene.
Other officers were seen conducting door to door enquiries, while several police vehicles were photographed at the scene.
It is understood detectives have collected CCTV footage from properties in the area.
One man who has lived in the area for over 20 years said police descended on the scene at 12.45am.
He said: “I was in my bed sleeping last night and I thought I heard fireworks around 12pm. It sounded like a pop, pop."
A woman added: “The neighbours are saying it was a shooting. I think there are two cars covered in blood. One down the street but I’m not sure where the other one is.”
Police Scotland did not confirm whether the incident was a shooting when approached by the Daily Record.
We told earlier how the force had locked down the area, telling locals to stay in their homes as they probed the incident.
A police spokesperson said: "About 12.10am on Saturday, January 15, 2022, officers were
