A New York judge has shot down R. Kelly’s bid for an early prison release amid coronavirus concerns.
6ix9ine just caught a huge break. As confirmed in court documents obtained by Billboard, the rapper, née Daniel Hernandez, will be a free man after a New York judge granted him a compassionate release in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
Tekashi 6ix9ine is a free man due to the coronavirus pandemic that spurred a federal judge in Manhattan to release him early from prison because of his asthma, which makes the rapper-turned-informant more vulnerable to the novel virus.
Tekashi 6ix9ine has been granted release from prison earlier than expected, as court documents viewed by Pitchfork confirm. The New York rapper, who was serving time after pleading guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, multiple firearms offenses, and narcotics trafficking, will serve the four-month remainder of his term from home confinement under government surveillance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Like several other celebrities, his attorney, Lance Lazzaro, has filed a motion to have him released early due to the spread of coronavirus through the prison system. However, unlike Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein, his appears on the verge of being successful: Lazzaro confirmed to Rolling Stone that he could be released this afternoon.

Bill Cosby’s lawyers are filing to get him released from prison and put him on house arrest amid the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. Reportedly, they decided to do so after one prison officer tested positive for the deadly virus. The disgraced comic is currently serving is serving three to 10 years at SCI Phoenix in Montgomery County. Cosby has a luxurious 9,000-square-foot mansion in Pennsylvania where he had lived under house arrest after he was found guilty of sexual assault in 2018.
This past weekend, Tekashi 6ix9ine's lawyer Lance Lazzaro filed a request that the incarcerated rapper be released early in response to the rapid spread of COVID-19. 6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, suffers from asthma which puts him at a higher risk for developing potentially fatal respiratory complications from the virus.
6ix9ine's shot at an early prison release was denied by a New York judge on Wednesday (March 25).
Though 6ix9ine is mere months away from being a free man, the rapper is looking to get out even sooner.
