Former Britain’s Got Talent child star Hollie Steele has claimed that the hit ITV show’s “song choices are fixed” and that they “didn’t want me to win”. Hollie stole the hearts of the nation as a sweet ten year old in 2009, when she stunned judge Simon Cowell with her pitch-perfect performance of Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera.
Her impressive classical singing voice went on to earn her a place in the final, although she didn’t go on to win. Other impressive acts in the memorable 2009 series of Britain’s Got Talent included father-son duo Stavros Flatley, young singer Shaheen Jafargholi, singer Susan Boyle and the eventual winners, dance group, Diversity.

A now-23 year old Hollie has posted a video to TikTok, which has since gone viral, claiming that BGT bosses didn’t allow her to sing her songs of choice because they “didn’t want me to win”. Fans of BGT might remember Hollie, as an overwhelmed ten year old, breaking down in tears in the semi-finals of the show, whilst in the middle of performing Eidelweiss from The Sound of Music, which she claimed she “had never heard of before”.
In her TikTok video, which played a clip of the famous video, Hollie explained her side of the story, saying: "I wanted to sing Nessun Dorma, like a massive opera song, like BAM, I'm here.” The pretty blonde continued: "I knew I could sing it, I said I knew I was strong enough and they [producers] said no.
