Ben Stiller To Direct & Star With Cate Blanchett In ‘The Champions’ For New Republic Pictures, ITV Studios America & Dirty Films

Apple TV+ is finding itself to be a bit of a niche streamer. Obviously, we don’t have a ton of hard numbers to go off of, but that in and of itself is telling.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterApple has ordered a thriller series that hails from Alfonso Cuarón with Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline set to star, Variety has learned.The show is titled “Disclaimer” and is based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight. Blanchett stars as Catherine Ravenscroft, a successful and respected television documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions.

A decade ago, the idea of Cate Blanchett teaming up with Ben Stiller to remake a somewhat silly ‘60s spy series into a feature film would have sounded ludicrous. However, over the last decade, Stiller has become a director that people really respect, especially when it comes to more dramatic fare, and Blanchett has been known to take roles that allow her to stretch her acting muscles in a different way than the typical prestige drama allows.
