Ben Shephard shares delight at Kate Garraway's big surprise

Kate Garraway has spoken about her "tough and sad" Christmas with husband Derek Draper as he continues to recover from coronavirus in hospital. The Good Morning Britain host revealed she and children Darcey, 13, and Billy, 11, were able to visit Derek for the first time over the festive period.

Emotional Kate Garraway says her husband Derek Draper is "very changed" after seeing him over the festive period.The presenter was back on Good Morning Britain today, Thursday 7 January, and shared an update on his progress after a chaotic Christmas. Although she revealed she could see Derek with their children, Kate says the visit was tinged with real sadness.The 53 year old is still recovering from Covid-19 after spending most of the summer in a medically-induced coma.

Ben Shephard revealed there has been some upset in his family following the latest announcement from the government. Kate Garraway is hopeful that she can spend Christmas day with her husband, Derek Draper who remains in hospital.

Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has joked that colleague Ben Shephard has been avoiding him for the past five years.The famed TV host made the admission while wishing his pal Ben a happy 46th birthday on Instagram on Friday. Sharing a photo of the two of them sat alongside each other on the studio couch, Piers also claimed that this is the only time they have ever been in the studio together.
