With the latest series of Silent Witness coming to an end this week, viewers at home will, for the the last time this season, see the likes of actors Emilia Fox and David Caves attempt to solve some grisly crimes. But besides the regular cast members that viewers will have become accustomed to seeing, some familiar faces have starred on the show as guests, including Hermione Norris. Appearing as CS Sheila Court in Monday 12 February’s King’s Cross episode, Hermione will help her co-stars try to work out the identity of the man who’s been dubbed ‘The King’s Cross Serial Killer’.
But TV fans may also know the 57 year old actress for playing Karen Marden on the comedy series Cold Feet. Having appeared on both the original show and its revival, Hermione’s character had a dramatic storyline which saw her go through a divorce and embark on an affair. However, Cold Feet isn’t the TV star’s only credit.
In fact, since making her on-screen debut back in 1990, she has secured lots of high profile roles in shows including Drop the Dead Donkey, Casualty and Luther. While she may have found success on our screens, becoming an actress wasn’t her original plan. When she was younger, she dreamed of becoming a ballerina, though later attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
“At 12, I got a scholarship to go to Elmhurst school for dance; I wanted to be a ballerina. I changed at that point from being quite quiet and shy into someone rather loud and rebellious,” she told The Guardian in 2016. Away from her work, Hermione has been married to screenwriter and television producer Simon Wheeler since 2002.
The pair met when they were working on the crime series Wire in the Blood and they have two children together – Wilf and Hero.
