Huw Edwards is one of the BBC's most recognisable faces and he's often chosen to front coverage of national and international events, particularly those related to the Royal Family. The 61 year old announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II on BBC News on 8 September, and he's also been selected to lead the coverage of Her Majesty's State Funeral. Huw joined the BBC as a trainee back in 1984 and his broadcasting career has continued to go from strength to strength ever since.
But, what do we know about Huw away from the cameras? Let's take a look... Huw, who is originally from Wales, lives in Dulwich, London with his wife, Vicky Flind, who is a TV producer and editor of ITV's Peston. The couple are parents to five children, Hannah, Amos, Sammy, Rebecca and Dan.
Proud dad Huw tends to keep his family life out of the spotlight but he did open about being a dad-of-five, admitting that he was a stricter parent to his elder children. Speaking to the Guardian, Huw said: "There’s a principle that your youngest child gets a far better crack of the whip than your eldest. All your anxieties and inexperience and cluelessness as a parent are taken out on your eldest child.
By the time you get to your youngest, in my case number five, you’re a brilliant parent. "So if you could give a parent all the patience and knowledge that they would have with their second or third child or whatever to the first, that’s the one piece of advice I’d give."
