Adele Roberts has shared the reality behind her appearance on The Great British Bake Off as she filmed the show while undergoing treatment for cancer. The BBC Radio 1 DJ was one of the latest familiar faces to step foot in the famous tent for a celebrity special of the hit Channel 4 show.
Adele, who revealed in October 2021 that she had been given a stage two bowel cancer diagnosis, told fans that she had been receiving chemotherapy treatment while taking part in the spin-off show for Stand Up To Cancer - a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4.
Appearing on the special on Sunday night (April 2), Adele admitted she had still been receiving treatment while filming. The show, which was filmed last year, saw the broadcaster show off her baking skills alongside Tom Daley, David Morrissey and Lucy Beaumont.

Following the show being aired, Adele, who has since been told she is cancer free, tweeted about her time in the Bake Off tent, telling fans that she was still "on chemo during the show" and shared the reality of what that meant while she was trying to impress the judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
"I was actually on chemo in the tent," she typed on Twitter. "I was overheating most of the time. I had an ice machine to keep me cool." She also took to Instagram with snaps from her experience as she delivered a series of 'thank you' messages.

However, mere moments into the show, host Matt Lucas informed fans at home that for this debut edition, sadly his co-host Noel Fielding was not able to join them for the episode, joking it was due to him being a "vampire". While The Great British Bake Off's official Twitter poked fun at Noel's, 49, absence too as they joked about celebrity contestant David Schwimmer, who is best known for his role in US sitcom Friends, being his "replacement".
