Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic insists that his side had no plans to sign Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo during the summer transfer window, though he did speak with agent Jorge Mendes regularly.
Ronaldo, 37, asked to leave United this summer as he went in search of a return to Champions League football, but he will now remain at Old Trafford until January at the least, with very few clubs actually interested in signing him.
Bayern were one of those linked with the Portugal international as they sought a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, but director Salihamidzic insists Ronaldo was never a serious consideration.

"He's an incredibly big personality," he told Sky Germany. "A big player who has made his mark on the world of football in recent years.
"It wasn't an option for us because we were doing other things and before that we organized our offensive in such a way that they But you don't have to feel sorry for him. He's a great footballer who has achieved great things in recent years."
When asked if he spoke to Ronaldo on the phone this summer, the Bayern director said 'no' but revealed he had spoken with his agent.
He added: "I often talk to Jorge Mendes. Yes, we spoke."
