Barry Ferguson and Andy Walker have hit out at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos saying he needs to "get fitter" ahead of the League Cup on Sunday.
The former Gers captain thinks the Colombian will leave Ibrox in the summer when his current contract expires, while the ex-Celtic forward said Michael Beale will help Morelos get more out of his game. Beale takes his side to the national stadium on Sunday to take on Jim Goodwin's Aberdeen a day after Celtic face Kilmarnock.
Ferguson and Walker debated whether Morelos would start upfront for Rangers, however they also touched on his fitness which has been discussed at length over the course of this season. Both agreed he needed to improve his fitness and that he should lead the line at Hampden in the semi-final. Speaking about Morelos, Ferguson told Go: "He needs to get fitter for me but I think Morelos in the Rangers team, they do look a far better team.
"He occupies centre backs, he moves them about and it frees up space for guys like Tillman and Kent. Regarding the game on Sunday it's a must win for Rangers.
"I can see him moving on but I think Morelos has to play. I know Colak picked up another injury, Roofe has been out for a number of months so you need to take your time with him. He (Morelos) is a certain starter on Sunday."
While, Walker said Morelos can still have a big impact for the Gers. He added: "I agree with Barry I think he can still be a bit leaner. He looked as if he was hungry again to get involved. Obviously the new manager relationship he has with him might be the difference. It's still a big if, if he stays at Rangers and extend his contract. I think that looks unlikely but I think he can still have a big impact."
