The 2023 BAFTA Games Awards were held on Thursday (March 30) at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank. Hosted by Julia Hardy and Inel Tomlinson, the 19th annual Games Awards recognise the most outstanding achievements in gaming from the past year.
Action-adventure sequel God of War Ragnarök was the big winner on the night, taking home five awards from a record breaking 14 nominations, including performance honors and the public voted Game of the Year. Former Stargate SG-1 actor Christopher Judge earned the Best Performance award for his turn as Norse God killer Kratos in the acclaimed video game.
Fantasy game Elden Ring – created in collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin – won two awards for Best Original Property and Best Multiplayer Game. But the big shock of the night came as indie shooter Vampire Survivors beat the blockbusters to bag the top prize, the BAFTA for Best Game.
