BAFTA 2022 Film Awards: Kenneth Branagh and Lindsay Brunnock look glam

Caitriona Balfe's latest project Belfast won Best Original Screenplay at the 94th Academy Awards.

Sir Kenneth has notched up eight Oscar nominations over four decades of acting, writing and directing, spanning seven different award categories, itself a record, but until this year had always come away empty-handed. His win for best original screenplay, for the film Belfast, comes 40 years after he made his screen acting debut on BBC television in 1982. The Oscar for best short film went to The Long Goodbye, a 11-minute feature that was released alongside the album of the same name by British actor and musician Riz Ahmed.

Kenneth Branagh appeared on a recent edition of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” to promote his Oscar-nominated film Belfast.

The Power of the Dog was named best film at tonight’s 75th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), as the New Zealander also scooped best director. During a star-studded ceremony at London’s Royal Albert Hall, sci-fi epic Dune also triumphed with five gongs, and Kenneth Branagh’s semi-autobiographical Belfast was named Outstanding British Film. The Power of the Dog’s male star, Benedict Cumberbatch, was on hand to read out the absent Campion’s victory speech for her best director award.
