Aymeric Laporte believes the small St Mary's pitch played a role in Manchester City's draw against Southampton.
City's 12-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 stalemate on the South coast.
Kyle Walker-Peters gave the Saints an early lead as he fired in a wonderful goal with the outside of his boot after just six minutes.
Pep Guardiola's side were far below their usual standards for the opening 30 minutes and were fortunate not to be two goals down after Armando Broja was narrowly flagged off-side after slotting in.
The Blues were much better towards the end of the half and into the second 45 minutes, though, with Laporte himself finding the equaliser as he powerfully headed in Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick.
City pushed for a winner and twice hit the woodwork but were unable to find the winner.
Saints were well worthy of the draw and Laporte believes the small pitch hindered their usual game.
"I think we played really well and maybe deserved more, but if we don't score more than one it's very difficult," he told Sky Sports.
"They have good players here and the pitch is small, so it is a little bit more difficult.
"I think we deserved more but we have to stay focussed and keep doing like we have the last few weeks. We're done a great job, now we focus on the next one.
"In the end we managed the game well and I think we could have scored more.
"We are happy because we have done a great job.
"I would like to win three points tonight but they played very good. We played very well also. Sometimes you win when you don't deserve it and tonight we got a point when we maybe deserved a little bit more."
