‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ ‘The Bad Guys,’ ‘Bros,’ ‘Till’ and ‘Glass Onion’ Among Casting Society Film Award Nominees

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is breaking Nielsen streaming records in the U.S. The film became the most-streamed movie in a measurement week from December 26 to January 1 (its first full week on Netflix), surpassing Hocus Pocus 2 and Wonder Woman 1984.

Well, James Cameron naysayers, it’s time to admit defeat. Variety reports that “Avatar: The Way Of Water” now sits at #5 in the all-time box office gross rankings with $2.054 billion globally.

Ted Sarandos addressed Netflix’s limited theatrical release of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery during the streamer’s Q4 earnings call on Thursday, echoing executive chairman Reed Hastings‘ previous remarks that releasing the film in theaters was meant more as a promotional tactic for the streamer.

In a very expected turn of events, Netflix’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery debuted atop Nielsen’s U.S. streaming charts for the week of December 19 to December 25.

There’s no surprises on Netflix‘s English-language TV and film charts in the U.S. for the week of January 9 to January 15.

Suffice it to say that Avatar: The Way of Water commanded the Visual Effects Society’s attention. James Cameron box office-smash sequel scored a record 14 nominations for the 2023 VES Awards, which were announced today.

The International Cinematographers Guild announced six nominees for the Maxwell Weinberg Award for Motion Picture Publicity, to be recognized at the 60th Annual ICG Publicists Awards.Nominees include the publicity teams responsible for the following campaigns:“The outstanding nominations this year shine a bright light not only on the diversity of the films submitted but also the individual challenges the publicity teams faced in this highly competitive field,” said Sheryl Main, who along with fellow ICG Publicists Awards Chair Tim Menke, made the announcement Thursday.According to the organization, the Maxwell Weinberg Award “honors active members working on motion pictures whose achievements in publicity and promotion during the previous calendar year are deemed outstanding.”Nominees are selected by the Publicists Awards Committee from qualified submitted presentations with the final recipient selected via an online vote of the publicists membership. Voting will be held from Jan.

Rian Johnson‘s latest whodunit Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has made a splash at Netflix, securing the top spot on the streamer’s English-language film charts for the week of December 26 to January 1.

Over the holidays, Netflix gave the gift of a new “Knives Out” film to its subscribers, titled “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” With the film seemingly doing really great numbers for the streaming service, more and more folks are seeing how the world of Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is being expanded on, including revealing a bit about the famed investigator’s personal life.

Filmmaker Rian Johnson has addressed similarities between his Glass Onion character Miles Bron and Elon Musk, stating that any resemblance between the imaginary tech billionaire and his real-life counterpart is purely unintentional.
