James Brown documentary produced by Mick Jagger and Questlove in on the way.A&E Network announced the four-part documentary yesterday (February 26) and said it’s expected to arrive in 2023.James Brown: Say It Loud will be directed by Deborah Riley Draper and will be executive produced by Mick Jagger, Questlove and Black Thought, among others.In a statement, Jagger said he was “thrilled” to executive produce the project, saying: “He was a brilliant performer who inspired me from the beginning and was deeply committed to the Civil Rights movement. I have always admired James and learned so much from him.”Questlove and Black Thought added: “The life of James Brown is significant not only to understand his immense musical impact, which inspires us and other artists to this day, but also for the deep and lasting impression he has had on American culture.“Brown’s life is a crucial and timely story of struggle, redemption, and self-identity and we are honoured to have the chance to share it.”In 2014, the late Chadwick Boseman starred as James Brown for the biopic Get On Up, which Jagger also produced.

Ashley Bryan wrote and illustrated award-winning children’s books including “Beat the Story-Drum, Pum Pum” and Beautiful Blackbird.”Bryan began creating art as a child and went on to study art at Cooper Union. While in school, he was drafted into the U.S.
Army to serve in World War II. He kept a sketch pad and drawing materials in his gas mask to continue making art while he served, including drawing sketches of Omaha Beach on D-Day.
After the war, Bryan continued studying art and began teaching art, as well as illustrating the writings of other authors. In the 1970s, he began writing and illustrating his own children’s books, with early titles including “The Ox of the Wonderful Horns and Other African Folktales” and “The Adventures of Aku.” With his books, he shared stories with children of African traditions and African American life.
Bryan’s books covered topics from traditional African tales to the lives of slaves in America to his own experiences in the segregated Army.Bryan’s work was widely celebrated, and he was first honored with a Coretta Scott King Award for illustration for “Beat the Story-Drum, Pum Pum,” a collection of Nigerian folk tales. He went on to win Coretta Scott King awards for “Beautiful Blackbird, ” “Let it Shine: Three Favorite Spirituals,” and “Infinite Hope: A Black Artist’s Journey from World War II to Peace.” In addition, Bryan won a Golden Kite Award for “Ashley Bryan: Words to My Life’s Song” and a Newbery Honor for “Freedom Over Me: Eleven Slaves, Their Lives and Dreams Brought to Life by Ashley Bryan” as well as several Coretta Scott King Honors.“During the Depression years there wasn’t extra money for buying books.
