Ashley Banjo has been made an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by the Princess Royal at an investiture ceremony on Tuesday 18 October.The 34 year old, who was recently left heartbroken as his beloved dog died after a short illness, was seen looking dapper in a black suit with a crisp white shirt underneath as he greeted Princess Anne, 72, in Windsor Castle. Diversity star Ashley folded his hands in front of him as he flashed a wide smile while conversing with the royal, who returned his beaming smile. Anne donned a black skirt with a matching blazer on top for the occasion, which she teamed with stockings and a pair of low heels.
She styled her brunette hair up into a clip and wore a subtle amount of make up. After exchanging a few pleasantries, Princess Anne and Ashley each stepped forward for her to place the MBE on the front of his blazer. News that Ashley had been awarded an MBE came in December last year after he campaigned heavily on behalf of racial equality.
Ashley was named in the New Years' Honours list and shared at the time how "humbled and extremely proud" he was to receive the honour. He said: “It really is the ultimate accolade. It’s something I never saw coming and for my mum and dad to see this moment means the world.” Ashley found fame back in 2009 while competing on TV show Britain's got Talent with his dance troupe Diversity, which they won.
