Police have locked down a major street in Glasgow city centre this afternoon after a man was allegedly assaulted. Officers received a report of a man having been attacked on Union Street at around 11.30am.

Armed cops and a police helicopter have been scrambled to an ongoing incident on a street in Edinburgh.
Officers with weapons and an air response unit were spotted on Boswall Parkway and Pilton Drive North in the Granton area. .
Police, armed with rifles, have been spotted just a few minutes' walk from Granton Primary School - with locals reporting the school is still being let out as normal.
Locals told Edinburgh Live that they were not allowed out of the street for some time.
The nature of the disturbance is currently unknown.
One resident who lives just a few streets over said: “This is shocking, no one knows what is going on.
"There is so many police in riot gear and with rifles - so close to a primary school too. You don’t expect to see this happening so close to home do you?"
Another witness reported seeing six police cars and an ambulance parked nearby at Ainslee Park.
