In 2017, Ant and Dec faced their greatest test when Ant checked himself into rehab over his addiction to prescription drugs and drink problems following a knee operation.
Ant's clean cut image was shattered, with the duo's work life thrown into disarray amid uncertainty over their future joint presenting stints, The Mirror reports. The following year Ant checked into rehab again after he was involved in a drink driving car crash, for which he was later fined £86,000 for being double the legal limit.
During all of this time, Dec was forced to host several television shows by himself including Saturday Night Takeaway. During Ant's continued break from television, Dec also presented I'm A Celebrity with Holly Willoughby.
At the time speaking on how it tested their friendship, Dec said in their documentary that he was 'incredibly angry' at the start that Ant didn't come to him for help.
