Angus Gunn is set for a shock Scotland switch of allegiance in order to answer Steve Clarke’s goalkeeping prayers.
Craig Gordon’s horrific double leg break means the Hearts captain will miss the rest of the season, which is also bad news for the nation who are now missing their number one goalkeeper. Liam Kelly has often been back up to Gordon since David Marshall’s retirement, while Jon McLaughlin can’t nail down a regular start for Rangers in order to stake his claim. Zander Clark has filled Gordon's gloves at Tynecastle and will be hopeful of an international recall as well.
But Gunn is now set to ditch England in favour of Scotland, reports the Scottish Sun. The Norwich City keeper - son of Canaries legend and Scot Bryan - represented England at Under 21 level but is now ready to don the dark blue if called upon by the country of his father’s birth.
Gunn senior, who was born in Thurso, won six caps during the 1990s and now junior could follow in his footsteps. Despite playing for England at every age group until Under 21s, Gunn has been called up by Gareth Southgate, with Jordan Pickford firmly established as his number one.
Now Gunn could perform a u-turn after knocking back Clarke’s approach when he first took charge of the national team three years ago. But after former SOuthampton teammate Che Adams was persuaded after initially saying no, it’s hoped the same will now be possible with Gunn given the need between the sticks.

As New York City emerged from Covid facing challenges from economic flight to rising crime, Mayor Eric Adams put filmed entertainment at the center of a comeback. His Blueprint for Recovery released in August (read it here) created a film council with a seat at the table for studios, producers, unions and trade groups and mandated film industry liaisons at every city agency — in tandem with a major hire, Chicago’s well-regarded film chief, Kwame Amoaku. The new Deputy Film Commissioner reports to Anne del Castillo, head of the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment (MOME), whose sprawling portfolio also encompasses theater, music, publishing, digital media, workforce development in the creative industries, press credentials, and the Office of Nightlife.
