‘Andor’ Review: ‘Rogue One’ Prequel Series Takes A Galaxy Far Far Away To A Whole New Level

Smallville alum Tom Welling has joined the cast of the CW’s drama series The Winchesters,  from the Supernatural trio of Robbie Thompson, Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios. The news was announced today by The Winchesters producers and cast at New York Comic Con, with Welling making a surprise appearance. The Winchesters premieres Tuesday, October 11 on the CW.

“The Midnight Club” has most of the usual tropes. There are doomed romances and devastating deaths mixed in with the harsh side effects of cancer and all five stages of grief. And as an anthology of ghost stories, “The Midnight Club” is also not too revolutionary.

Emily Watson and Shirley Henderson will lead the “Dune” prequel series at HBO Max. Watson and Henderson have been cast as Valya Harkonnen and Tula Harkonnen, described by the streamer as “the formidable Harkonnen Sisters, who have risen to power in the Sisterhood, a secret organization of women who will go on to become the Bene Gesserit.”The prequel series, titled “Dune: The Sisterhood,” is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides and follows the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.The series is adapted from the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J.

Anderson, taking place in the same Dune universe created by Herbert’s father, Frank Herbert.Watson and Henderson will play Valyva and Tula Harkonnen, Deadline reports, who are the sisters who rise to power within the Sisterhood that goes on to become the Bene Gesserit.In Villeneuve’s film, Charlotte Rampling plays Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, a Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother who tests Paul before he leaves for Atreides.The Sisterhood was created, written and executive produced by Diana Ademu-John, who will also serve as a co-runner of the show alongside Alison Schapker.Villeneuve is an executive producer on the series as well, alongside Jon Spaihts, Scott Z.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Columbia Records has entered into a joint venture with former Capitol Records chairman-CEO Jeff Vaughn to launch Signal Records, the company announced Wednesday. The Los Angeles-based imprint will operate as a new label with Columbia Records of Sony Music Entertainment and begin operations immediately, with an artist roster to be announced in the coming weeks. As founder and CEO, Vaughn will lead the company’s creative direction and business development while utilizing Columbia’s marketing, promotion, and label services. Ron Perry, Chairman & CEO of Columbia Records, said, “I’ve admired Jeff’s work from afar for a while. He has incredible musical instincts, an infectious work ethic, and great passion. I’m looking forward to working together on this new chapter.”

Disney has a new television series for the "Star Wars" universe that is already getting thumbs up from fans and critics alike.  On Wednesday, the company released "Andor," a prequel show to the commercially successful 2016 film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," on the Disney+ streaming service.The story focus on the journey of Cassian Andor, portrayed by Diego Luna, who also executive produces the series.  Set five years before the events of "Rogue One," the show focuses on the transition of Cassian from petty thief to the rebel hero we see in the film.The actor believes the show will provide fans with an "intimate" perspective of what life was like under the rule of the Galactic Empire.  "There has to be action and adventure and that like big scope of science fiction that you expect from 'Star Wars,' but at the same time, we can allow ourselves to be different," Luna said in an interview with Reuters. Star Wars series Andor has received positive first reactions after the first four episodes were released to critics.The Disney+ series is a prequel series set five years before events in 2016 film Rogue One. Sofia Coppola wrote and will direct the feature film “Priscilla” based on the memoir “Elvis and Me” by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, A24 announced on Monday. Published in 1985, Presley’s intimate account of her life with Elvis became a New York Times Bestseller.Cailee Spaeny (“Mare of Easttown,” “Bad Times at the El Royale”) will star as Priscilla Presley and Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”) will play Elvis.The film will shoot in Toronto in the Fall.Coppola, Youree Henley, Lorenzo Mieli of The Apartment, a Fremantle Company and American Zoetrope will produce the film and The Apartment, a Fremantle Company and Sony’s Stage 6 Films will finance the film.A24 will distribute in North America, Vision Distribution will distribute in Italy (and then become a Sky exclusive), Stage 6 Films/Sony Pictures International Releasing will distribute in the rest of the world.Coppola will reteam with her longtime collaborators, including Philippe Le Sourd (Director of Photography), Stacey Battat (Costume Designer), Sarah Flack (Editor) and Tamara Deverell (Production Designer).This marks the third collaboration between Sofia Coppola and A24 with “On The Rocks” and “The Bling Ring.” A series adaptation of Edith Wharton’s “The Custom of the Country” is also in development.Coppola is repped by Bart Walker of the Gersh Agency and Barry Hirsch of Hirsch Wallerstein.
